Introducing Ashcroft Press

Chis Rowley’s forthcoming book - “Couldn’t You Just Call Me John?”: A Layman’s Guide to Learning Disability and Autism will be published by Ashcroft Press and will be available for purchase in the Spring of 2022.

For this book, Chris listened to over three hundred people telling him about learning disabilities and autism. They included experts from the NHS, the social services and schools as well as the day-to-day support workers, nurses and carers. However, above all he listened to the people with learning disabilities and their parents. Virtually every one of the three hundred told him that no one understood them – what their daily life was like. He was told that he had to tell their story – or the many different stories, because they are all very different individuals.
